GEORGE PEABODY ARBORVITAE

Thuja occidentalis 'George Peabody' is more commonly known as George Peabody Golden Arborvitae. This is an excellent choice for adding vibrant golden color and a strong vertical element to any landscape. It boasts bright, flat sprays of golden-yellow needles that maintain their bright yellow color year-round, even through the winter months.

Ideal for creating eye-catching accents, dense privacy screens, or formal hedges. It develops into a narrow, upright pyramid, offering a sophisticated vertical element without demanding excessive space. It is a great alternative to greener conifers, providing a cheerful and consistent splash of color that brightens any landscape design.

Thuja 'George Peabody' is a low-maintenance choice for gardeners. It thrives in full sun in nutrient-rich, evenly moist, well-drained soil.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in fertile, well-draining soil, selecting a location that receives full sun to partial shade for the best foliage density and color. These evergreen species are adaptable, but they require consistent moisture to remain healthy and vibrant, particularly during the first few growing seasons until the root system is well established. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead wood or to lightly shape the plant, avoiding deep cuts into old wood where foliage will not regrow. Apply a layer of organic mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, taking care to keep the material a few inches away from the crown to prevent stem rot.
