FRONTIER HYBRID ELM

The 'Frontier' Elm develops a vase or pyramidal shade that is resistant to Dutch elm disease. Smooth, grey-green bark and beautiful red and purple fall color. Excellent choice for urban planting under power lines and in parking lots due to its shorter mature height. The 'Frontier' thrives in full sun and adapts to both dry and moist locations. It is not soil particular as to type or pH and is able to handle environmental salt. This is a fast growing, reliable, low maintenance shade tree with no significant negative characteristics. Derived from a crossing of the European Field Elm - Ulmus minor with the Chinese Elm - Ulmus parvifolia.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
