The Okame, also known as the Taiwan Cherry, is a popular, small deciduous ornamental cherry tree with an upright, vase-shaped habit becoming more rounded with age. It is one of the earliest flowering cherries with mildly fragrant, pink petals and reddish flower stalks. It has shiny reddish brown bark and dark red-orange fall color. Makes a great street tree or used in parks or other public areas. Thrives in full sun in moist, fertile, well-drained soils.
