PACIFIC SUNSET® SHANTUNG MAPLE

The Pacific Sunset® Maple is a hybrid of Acer truncatum and Acer platanoides that combines the best characteristics of both. The Norway parent (Platanoides) gives it the faster growth potential, early caliper development, larger leaves and adaptability. The Shangtung parent (Truncatum) gives this cultivar its drought resistance, smaller size and stunning yellow-orange to red fall color that comes earlier than other Norwegian Sunsets.

The Pacific Sunset® thrives in a wide range of soil conditions and urban environments which makes this selection a terrific street tree.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in a location with full sun to partial shade, and ensure the soil is well-draining. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Fertilize in the spring with a balanced fertilizer. Prune in the late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
