CRAZY DAISY SHASTA DAISY
Leucanthemum 'Crazy Daisy' is more commonly known as Crazy Daisy Shasta Daisy. It is a charming and unique Shasta Daisy cultivar known for its fully double, fluffy, and somewhat informal-looking white flowers, which bloom profusely from early to late summer. Unlike the flat petals of a classic daisy, 'Crazy Daisy' features a delightful mix of twisted, quilled, and shaggy white rays surrounding a central yellow eye, giving each flower a frilly, whimsical appearance that is excellent for adding soft texture to the garden. It has a manageable, upright habit, typically reaching a height of 24-30 inches with a spread of 18-24 inches, making it well-suited for mixed borders, cottage gardens, or as a striking feature in a large container.
Tough and dependable, 'Crazy Daisy' is hardy in USDA Zones 4-9 and performs best in full sun and average, well-drained soil, as it is susceptible to root rot in soggy conditions. To ensure the longest possible bloom time and to maintain plant vigor, gardeners should deadhead the spent, faded flowers throughout the summer; cutting them back can also encourage a second flush of blooms. Being both deer and rabbit resistant, this popular variety is also a good choice for attracting butterflies and makes a superb, long-lasting flower for cutting and bringing indoors.
