Zone: 5GOLDEN SWORD YUCCA
'Bright Edge' Yucca (Yucca filamentosa 'Bright Edge') is a beautiful, clump-forming perennial that brings a touch of perpetual sunshine to your garden, particularly dazzling during the cooler months. Its long, sword-like blades are adorned with broad, brilliant yellow margins that truly seem to glow with an intensified golden hue in the winter garden, providing vital color and architectural interest when most other plants are dormant and well, boring. Even in summer, these vibrant margins offer a striking contrast against the blue-green centers, creating a captivating focal point. From mid to late summer, 'Bright Edge' sends up dramatic, 30-inch flower spikes, adorned with an abundance of large, creamy, bell-shaped flowers. These elegant blooms add a touch of stately grace and are often lightly fragrant.
This incredibly resilient and low-maintenance plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, demonstrating exceptional drought tolerance once established. Its ability to withstand harsh conditions, including heat, cold (hardy in USDA Zones 4-9), and even deer and rabbits, makes it an ideal choice for challenging areas. Perfect for adding bold texture to xeriscapes, rock gardens, perennial borders, or as a striking specimen in a container, 'Bright Edge' Yucca promises year-round visual appeal and effortless garden beauty.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in loose, well-draining, sandy or rocky soil, selecting a location that receives full sun. This drought-tolerant perennial thrives in lean soil conditions and requires excellent drainage to prevent root issues, so avoid sites where water pools. Provide supplemental water during the first season to support root development but minimize moisture thereafter as the plant is highly adapted to dry environments. Prune spent flower stalks down to the base once they have finished blooming to maintain a tidy appearance. Apply a light layer of organic mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, taking care to keep the material well away from the crown to prevent stem rot.
