SGT PEPPER™ WHITE DOGWOOD

Cornus alba 'Verpaalen2' PP34,377 Proven Winners® Color Choice® Sgt. Pepper® Dogwood is commonly referred to as Sgt. Pepper Dogwood. This amazing multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub resembles the color variegation of a Tricolor Beech! It features green and white variegated foliage that emerges with bright pink tones. Cooler fall nights bring its pink leaf variegation back with all the white leaf margins turning bright pink. Stems turn deep red in fall and look spectacular against the variegated foliage.

Sgt. Pepper™ Tatarian Dogwood thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-draining soils. In spring, remove the oldest stems so as to encourage new bright red growth.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in full sun to partial shade; it performs best in sunny locations where stem color will be most vibrant. It is exceptionally adaptable to various soil types and uniquely tolerant of wet, boggy conditions. Pruning: The bright red stem color fades as the wood ages. To maintain the 'fire-engine' red color, you will need to practice rejuvenation pruning: in late winter, cut one-third to one-half of the oldest, dullest stems all the way back to the ground. This forces a flush of vibrant, new red growth for the following winter.
