Zone: FANCY ANGEL WINGS
Caladium 'Fancy Leaf Mix' brings an instant, high-impact explosion of lush tropical texture and radiant color to the shade garden. Unlike the narrower strap-leaf types, fancy-leaf caladiums are celebrated for their classic, oversized, heart-shaped (or elephant-ear) leaves that hang elegantly from long, structural stems. This premium mix curated for commercial and residential landscapes delivers a dazzling mosaic of patterns, featuring striking combinations of crimson reds, soft pinks, snowy whites, and chartreuse, all framed by deep green margins and intricate veining. The plants form a bold, upright clump that stands roughly 14 to 20 inches tall and spreads 12 to 18 inches wide, offering a much more architectural presence than low-growing bedding plants.
These warmth-loving tropical tubers perform exceptionally well in partial shade to full shade, where their large, thin-textured leaves are protected from harsh, direct afternoon sun which can scorch the delicate foliage. In landscape applications, 'Fancy Leaf Mix' Caladium is an invaluable tool for completely illuminating dark garden beds, creating high-contrast mass plantings under high-canopy trees, or serving as a structural "thriller" in premium shade containers and patio urns alongside ferns and begonias.
'Fancy Leaf Mix Caladium thrives in rich, loose, highly porous, and well-drained soil, and they prefer consistent, even moisture without being subjected to soggy, waterlogged conditions.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Provide partial shade to prevent scorching. To maximize their magnificent leaf production and keep the foliage vibrant all summer long, apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every two to three weeks and promptly pinch out any small, arum-like flower spikes that emerge.
