Zone: 3ICE BALLET SWAMP MILKWEED
Asclepias incarnata 'Ice Ballet' is commonly referred to as Ice Ballet Swamp Milkweed. It is an erect, clump-forming perennial commonly found in swamps and wet, naturalized areas. It has a vigorous, fast-growing habit, reaching 4-5 feet tall and 30 inches wide and produces vanilla scented clusters of white flowers in early to midsummer. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. Deadheading spent flowers bring on more blooms. Foliage is deep green and contrast nicely with its white flowers.
Ice Ballet Swamp Milkweed thrives in full sun in average, moist soils. It has deep taproots and best left undisturbed once it is established. In addition, swamp milkweed is an important food source for the larval stage of Monarch butterflies.
