SILVER PEARL KOREAN FIR
Abies koreana 'Silberperle' is cherished for its tiny, globe-like shape and striking "frosted" appearance. This miniature Korean Fir grows at an incredibly slow pace, often only half an inch to an inch per year, forming a dense, flat-topped bun. Its short needles are a deep, glossy green on top and feature silvery-white undersides that curve upward. This creates the "pearl" effect the plant is named for, making the entire shrub look as though it is shimmering or lightly dusted with snow even in the middle of summer.
'Silberperle' Korean Fir requires cool, well-drained soil and protection from intense, scorching afternoon sun which can burn its delicate needles. It prefers a spot with partial shade to full sun (in cooler climates) and consistent moisture, as it does not tolerate drought or extreme heat well. It is ideal for rock gardens or alpine displays where it won't be overwhelmed by larger plants. It also makes a stunning, sophisticated container specimen for a patio table or a focal point in a miniature "fairy garden" where its intricate textures can be appreciated up close.
