LYTHRUM SAL MORDENS GLEAM
Grower Notes:

Lythrum 'Morden's Gleam' is more commonly known as Morden's Gleam Deep Rose Loosestrife. It is a dense, upright herbaceous perennial prized for its spectacular display of summer color. It is celebrated for producing masses of dazzling, hot pink or rosy-pink flowers that rise on tall spikes, often reaching 4 to 5 feet in height, contrasting beautifully against its narrow, bluish-green foliage. 'Morden's Gleam' is one of the non-invasive cultivars developed from the species Lythrum salicaria and Lythrum virgatum, making it a responsible choice for gardeners, as it is largely considered to be a seedless hybrid. Its long bloom period, typically from mid to late summer, makes it an excellent choice for a vibrant backdrop in perennial borders, bog gardens, or for planting along the edges of ponds and streams, while also acting as an excellent attractor for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Lythrum 'Morden's Gleam' thrives in full sun, though it will tolerate light afternoon shade, especially in very hot climates. It enjoys medium to wet, consistently moist soil and performs exceptionally well in moisture-retentive soils like clay, making it perfectly suited for water-side plantings. It is low-maintenance and benefits from deadheading (removal of spent flowers) to prevent any potential, though rare, self-seeding, especially if other Lythrum varieties are planted nearby.
