NADEZHDA LAVENDER LILAC

Syringa vulgaris 'Nadezhda' is commonly referred to as Nadezhda Double Lilac. It is a vigorous deciduous shrub that was originally bred in Russia for its vigorous, hardy habit and its highly fragrant, fully double bicolor blooms of lilac and blue that open from deep pink-purple buds in mid spring.

Nadezhda Lilac is deer resistant and thrives in full sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It will tolerate urban pollution and can thrive in city environments.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: plant in a full-sun location with excellent drainage to help highlight the unique, bluish-lavender double blooms of this Russian cultivar. As with all lilacs, good air circulation is key to maintaining healthy foliage throughout the summer months. Water consistently until established and fertilize with a balanced, slow-release formula in early spring. Do not prune in late winter, as this removes the dormant flower buds; instead, perform any rejuvenation or light shaping immediately after the blooms have finished in late spring.
