MERCURY® MAGNOLIA

Magnolia Mercury® (Magnolia 'NCMX1' PP29218) is a stunning deciduous hybrid ideal for use as a focal point or specimen tree in smaller residential landscapes and urban gardens. By unfurling its large, fragrant, lavender-pink flowers up to a month later than typical saucer magnolias, it effectively avoids the late spring frosts that often turn other magnolia blooms brown. With a strong central leader and a neat, upright pyramidal form, it reaches a manageable height of roughly 25 feet, making it perfect for planting near patios, lining driveways, or even growing under power lines.

To keep Mercury® healthy, plant it in a site with full sun to partial shade and rich, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. While it is more cold-hardy and frost-resistant than many of its relatives, it still appreciates a location protected from harsh, drying winds that can damage its large, leathery leaves.
