CAPE COD BOYS SIBERIAN IRIS
'Cape Cod Boys Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica 'Cape Cod Boys') is an award-winning Siberian Iris celebrated for its unique ocean-themed coloration and exceptional adaptability. It produces striking, ruffled flowers in late spring to early summer, featuring standards and falls in shades of soft periwinkle to sky blue, vividly adorned with darker blue veins that create a dynamic, dappled effect. The center of each flower is accented with a prominent, clear lemon-yellow signal, completing its 'beachy' look. Growing on sturdy, vertical stems to a height of 24-30 inches, the blossoms rise elegantly above the dense clump of thin, sword-like, blue-green foliage, which provides attractive vertical texture throughout the entire season.
Like all Siberian Irises, 'Cape Cod Boys' is remarkably robust and easy to grow, thriving in a wide range of conditions and resisting both deer and rabbits. It performs best in full sun but tolerates light partial shade. It prefers moist, fertile, and slightly acidic soil, making it an excellent choice for rain gardens, pond edges, or moist perennial borders, though established plants are quite tolerant of average moisture levels. Plant the rhizomes covered with a thin layer of soil and provide consistent watering, especially during its active growth period. 'Cape Cod Boys' is very low-maintenance, requiring minimal care and only needing to be divided every few years to maintain its impressive vigor and bloom capacity.
