EMERALD N GOLD WINTERCREEPER

Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald 'N Gold' PP2231 is commonly referred to as Emerald 'N Gold Wintercreeper or Fortune's spindle. It is noteworthy for its variegated foliage of dark green with bright yellow margins. It displays a nice red tint as temperatures cool. It is a low-growing, broadleaf evergreen shrub that has a spreading habit.

Emerald 'N Gold' Wintercreeper thrives in full sun to part shade. It enjoys average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate boggy or wet soils. It is ideal along paths or as erosion control. With support, it can climb and be trained for a shady wall.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil in a location that receives partial to full sun. These variegated Euonymus fortunei varieties perform best with some sun exposure - deep shade may cause the leaves to lose their distinct color and become less vigorous. They are drought-tolerant once established and adapt to many soil types, though they avoid waterlogged sites. While these cultivars are more controlled and compact than the 'Coloratus' variety, they are still vigorous growers; periodic pruning will help maintain a dense, tidy shape and encourage fresh color.
