TETRAGONA AUREA GOLDEN FERNLEAF CYPRESS

Commonly called Tetragona Aurea Golden Fernleaf Cypress, Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Tetragona Aurea' is a slow-growing, dwarf evergreen shrub prized for its bright golden yellow foliage that deepens to green in the interior.

Native to Japan, it displays an attractive conical habit with asymmetrical branches that ascend and spread, flattening at their tips. This resilient cypress thrives in full to partial sun and slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soil. It also offers good resistance to sunburn, deer, and strong winds.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant it in a location with full sun to partial shade. Use a well-draining soil mix and maintain a consistent moisture level. Prune it regularly to maintain shape and promote healthy growth, taking care not to damage the subulata foliage.
