ATTARYI FULL MOON MAPLE

Acer japonicum 'Attaryi' is commonly referred to as Attaryi Fullmoon Maple. It is an ornamental, multi-stemmed, deciduous tree that has a globe-shaped habit. It features large, attractive, deeply dissected green leaves with small, dark red flowers that hang in clusters. In fall the foliage turns a beautiful scarlet to orange. Its bark is smooth and grey.

Attaryi Fullmoon Maple thrives in part shade to full shade. It prefers average to evenly moist soils and should not be allowed to dry out. It is not tolerant of urban pollution so inner city plantings should be avoided.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Select a site with dappled shade and protection from the afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch on its deeply cut foliage. Dig a planting hole twice the width of the root ball and set the specimen so the root flare remains one to two inches above the surrounding grade to ensure proper drainage. Backfill with native soil, water thoroughly to eliminate air pockets, and apply a 2-inch layer of organic mulch while keeping it clear of the trunk to maintain the tree's health.
