FIRST EDITIONS® CREME BRULEE™ CINQUEFOIL

Potentilla fruticosa 'Bailbrule' is commonly referred to as First Editions® Creme Brulee™. This outstanding First Editions® selection features double, bright white flowers that cover this compact, rounded shrub the entire summer. It makes a wonderful contrast to its rich green ferny, fine-textured foliage.

Creme Brulee™ Potentilla is low maintenance and deer resistant. It thrives in full sun to partial shade in average, well-drained soils. It dislikes wet soils. It is tolerant of urban pollution and can thrive in city environments. It is ideal for growing in containers and also any bright spot to help bring in the pollinators.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in average, well-draining soil, selecting a location that receives full sun to light shade. While these shrubs are incredibly durable and heat-tolerant, they perform best and maintain the most prolific bloom production when grown in full sun. Ensure consistent water during the first season of establishment to support root development, though they become highly drought-tolerant once fully settled. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead wood and encourage a compact, dense habit. These shrubs can become leggy over time, so cutting them back periodically helps maintain their vigor and shape. Apply a layer of organic mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, taking care to keep the material a few inches away from the crown to prevent stem rot.
