CANDYMINT SARGENT CRABAPPLE

The Candymint Sargent Crabapple is a dwarf crabapple with a wide-spreading, oriental-like horizontally branched habit. It reaches only 8-10 feet with a 15-18 foot spread, but definitely packs a colorful punch! Its leaves emerge a deep purple and become bronze-green in summer, maturing to gold in fall. Deep red buds open to fragrant clusters of pink flowers that mature to small, deep purple fruit which persist into fall and are enjoyed by birds.

The Candymint Sargent Crabapple is unique. It enjoys full sun in rich, moist, well-drained soils. It is tolerant of urban pollution and can thrive in city environments.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in a location with full sun and well-draining soil. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
