TUXEDO WEIGELA
Weigela Tuxedo™ (Weigela x 'Velda' USPP26842, CPBR5268) is a sophisticated and striking deciduous shrub that offers a unique combination of dramatic foliage and elegant flowers. Its most prominent feature is the deep, dark burgundy to almost black foliage that maintains its rich color all season long, providing a bold backdrop in any garden. Its dark foliage is perfectly complemented by a profusion of pure white, bell-shaped flowers that appear in late spring and then rebloom sporadically throughout the summer and into fall. The sharp contrast of black and white gives the shrub its formal, 'Tuxedo' name and provides a high-impact, modern look.
Tuxedo™ Weigela is deer resistant, low maintenance and thrives in full sun, which is essential for maintaining the deepest foliage color and the most abundant flowering. It is adaptable to a wide range of soil types, as long as they are well-drained. It is a fantastic option for creating a dramatic low hedge, as a specimen plant, for adding a dark accent to a mixed border, or for use in large containers where its striking appearance can be a focal point.
