Chlorophytum comosum, commonly known as the Spider Plant, is a classic, highly adaptable perennial evergreen in the Asparagaceae family that has long been a staple of both indoor collections and tropical landscapes. Characterized by its cascading fountain of narrow, arching, linear leaves, it is most frequently grown in its variegated forms, which feature striking creamy-white or yellow longitudinal stripes contrasting against rich green margins. As it matures, it sends out long, wiry, arching runners that produce small, star-shaped white flowers, followed quickly by miniature plantlets known as "spiders" or "pups."
