PARDON MY CERISE BEE BALM
Monarda 'Pardon My Cerise' is a standout selection from the popular Pardon My™ series, specifically bred to provide a massive floral impact on a petite, well-behaved frame. Reaching a compact height of just 15 to 18 inches, it forms a dense, bushy mound of dark green, mint-scented foliage that remains attractive throughout the season. In mid-to-late summer, the plant is topped with oversized, shaggy pom-poms of vibrant cerise-pink to cherry-red flowers that appear disproportionately large for the plant's small stature. This dwarf habit makes it an ideal "front-of-the-border" perennial or a colorful, aromatic filler for patio containers where space is at a premium but high-voltage color is desired.
The ideal spot for 'Pardon My Cerise' is a sunny location that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight, which ensures the most intense flower color and the sturdiest stems. It thrives in rich, organic soil that is consistently moist but well-draining; like its taller relatives, it is susceptible to leaf drop if the soil is allowed to dry out completely during a summer heatwave. It is highly regarded for its exceptional resistance to powdery mildew, though it still benefits from being planted in an area with good air circulation to keep its tucked-in foliage healthy.
