HEARTS OF GOLD REDBUD
Hearts of Gold Redbud is noteworthy for being the first known gold leaved cultivar. Its heart-shaped leaves are an intense gold color. New leaves emerge orange-red then turn to gold before fading to chartreuse as summer comes to an end. Tiny lavender-purple redbud blooms appear early spring before foliage emerges. Fruits are rarely produced with this cultivar. Ideal as a specimen or as a hedge. It thrives in fertile soils that are evenly moist and well-drained.
