DECADENCE® BLUEBERRY SUNDAE FALSE INDIGO


Decadence® Blueberry Sundae Baptisia PP23891 is commonly referred to as Decadence® Blueberry Sundae False Indigo. This Proven Winners® selection is part of the Decadence® series which features ultra-colorful, decadent flower spikes on a compact, well-branched plant. This cultivar is noteworthy for its blue-green mounding foliage and dark indigo blue, lupine-like flowers in late spring. No need to deadhead the flowers as they will continue to attracts bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators throughout the growing season. Flowers fade to colorful, ornamental seed pods that extend the interest into fall.

Decadence® Blueberry Sundae Baptisia is deer resistant and thrives in full to partial sun in average, sandy, slightly acidic, well-drained soils.

Baptisia (False Indigo) is a beautiful, native perennial that has a shrubby habit. Baptisia will grow in almost any type of well-drained soil. They bloom in late spring/early summer, for two to three weeks. Foliage remains attractive throughout the growing season.


Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage repeat flowering. Fertilize lightly in the spring and summer.
