NOVA® SUNSTONE TICKSEED
Coreopsis verticillata Nova® Sunstone is an exceptional perennial introduction from the Terra Nova® breeding program, designed to bring an intense, warm glow to the mid-summer landscape. It is highly prized for its brilliant, sunburst-coral-pink flowers accented by a rich bronze-red eye that shifts beautifully in tone as the seasons progress. It retains the signature ultra-fine, threadleaf foliage of the verticillata species, creating a dense, airy mound of bright green that offers an elegant, delicate texture in the garden. Growing to a tidy and uniform height of 12 to 15 inches with a 6-12 inch spread, its compact, tightly mounded habit prevents the splitting or flopping common in older threadleaf varieties, ensuring a solid blanket of color from early summer right through frost.
For peak performance and the most intense color development, the ideal spot for Nova® Sunstone is a location in full sun where it receives at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. It thrives best in average, lean to moderately fertile, well-draining soils and exhibits outstanding drought tolerance once its root system is fully established. It is highly resistant to powdery mildew, allowing the fine foliage to remain clean and attractive even during hot, humid summers. It is a magnet for bees and butterflies while remaining reliably resistant to deer and rabbit browsing, making it a rugged yet beautiful choice for sunny borders, rock gardens, or mass utility plantings.
