GLOSSY BLACK CHOKEBERRY
Aronia melanocarpa 'Elata' is commonly referred to as Elata Black Chokeberry. It is noteworthy for being superior in comparison to its species. It is more vigorous with larger, longer leaves and larger flowers and fruit. Its white flowers bloom in spring followed by edible, but bitter black fruit. The black berries can made into tasty jams and jellies. Foliage turns a beautiful bright red in fall.
The Elata Black Chokeberry thrives in full to part sun in evenly moist, well-drained soils. For best fruit production, plant in full sun.
