Zone: 5WHEELS OF WONDER® FIRE WONDER ICE PLANT
Delosperma cooperi 'WOWDAY2' PP25645, widely known by its trade name 'Fire Wonder', is a powerhouse of the Wheels of Wonder® series, bred for significantly larger flowers and a more robust growth habit. It features massive, multi-colored blooms with brilliant orange-red petals that fade into a bright yellow halo around a white center. The succulent, cylindrical foliage remains a lush green throughout the season, providing a thick, tactile carpet that holds its own even when the plant is not in its peak flowering stage. Its ability to produce such high-volume, neon-bright color makes it a favorite for adding a modern, high-energy look to the garden.
For the best results in the landscape, 'Fire Wonder' should be positioned in a location that receives maximum solar exposure, which encourages the large flowers to open fully and stay vibrant. It is perfectly suited for xeriscaping, serving as an excellent groundcover for hot, dry banks or as a filler between stepping stones where heat radiating from the pavement won't bother it. Care is centered around providing excellent drainage; a sandy or rocky soil profile is essential to prevent root issues. This plant is extremely drought-tolerant once it has settled in, needing only occasional watering during prolonged dry spells.

To help Delosperma settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant Delosperma in lean, sharply well-draining soil - sandy or gravelly sites are ideal. Delosperma is a succulent that requires full sun and excellent air circulation; it does not tolerate heavy, wet soil, especially during winter months, as it is highly prone to crown and root rot. Water sparingly once established; avoid overwatering and heavy mulching, as these will lead to plant failure.
