WINE AND SPIRITS® WEIGELA

Weigela florida 'SMNWFGC' PP34358 Proven Winners® Color Choice® Wine & Spirits® is commonly known as Wine and Spirits® Weigela. This Color Choice® Proven Winners® selection is an update on the classic Wine and Roses® Weigela. It features even more dramatic dark foliage with sharp white-green flowers that attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.

Wine and Spirits® Weigela is deer resistant and thrives in full to partial sun in evenly moist, well-drained soils. For best foliage coloration, plant in full sun. If pruning is necessary, spring is a good time. Removing any dead or damaged growth can be done at any time.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with full sun to partial shade. Water regularly but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune immediately after the main spring flush of flowers fades to maintain shape; avoid pruning in late winter or early spring, as this will remove the flower buds for the coming season.
