BLUE MYRTLE
Vinca Blue is a popular heat-loving annual known for its glossy, dark green foliage and five-petaled, star-shaped flowers. It offers a serene, cool-toned lavender or violet-blue hue that provides a refreshing contrast to the more common pink and white selections. Unlike many other bedding plants, Vinca Blue thrives in high temperatures and humidity, maintaining its structural integrity and flower production without drooping. Its upright and mounding habit makes it a versatile choice for borders, mass plantings, or as a reliable filler in mixed containers.
To achieve the best results, Vinca Blue should be planted in a location that receives full sun to very light partial shade. It is highly drought-tolerant once it has established its root system, but it performs best when the soil is allowed to dry out slightly between waterings. It is critical to avoid over-watering or planting in heavy, saturated soil, as this can lead to root issues. A spot with well-drained soil and good air circulation is ideal for preventing common foliage diseases. Because it is a heavy bloomer, applying a balanced liquid fertilizer every few weeks will ensure a continuous display of blue flowers until the first frost of autumn.
