KOREANSPICE VIBURNUM

Viburnum carlesii is commonly referred to as Carlesii Viburnum, Korean Spice Viburnum or Koreanspice Viburnum. It is a dense, upright, rounded, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub that is prized for its heavenly fragrance. It features red buds that open to white snowball blooms in late spring. Flowers are followed by clusters of red berries that ripen black in late summer. Ovate green leaves mature to wine red fall color.

Carlesii Viburnum is loved by all: pollinators, birds and humans! It is easy to take care of and thrives in full to partial sun in rich, fertile, slightly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. If pruning, prune immediately after flowering for better plant health.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with full sun to partial shade. Water regularly but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune sparingly and only immediately after flowering to maintain shape; avoid pruning in late winter or early spring, as this will remove the flower buds for the coming season.
