LOLLIPOP LAVENDER VERBENA
Verbena bonariensis 'Lollipop' is a sophisticated, compact cultivar of the classic tall verbena, cherished for its architectural grace and ability to add a vertical, airy element to smaller garden spaces. Growing to a manageable height of roughly 18 to 24 inches, it produces the same cluster-like, intense violet-purple flowers that make the species a favorite, without the need for staking or excessive space. Its rugged, branching stems create a see-through effect that integrates beautifully into borders, cottage gardens, or containers, providing a steady, reliable nectar source for bees and butterflies from mid-summer well into autumn.
To ensure optimal performance, site 'Lollipop' in a location that receives full sun, as maximum light exposure is vital for maintaining its strong, upright habit and preventing the stems from becoming leggy. It is exceptionally resilient in hot, dry conditions, making it an ideal candidate for rock gardens, gravel beds, or mixed borders where heat tolerance is a priority. While it is adaptable to various soil types, providing excellent drainage is the single most important factor for success, as it will struggle in heavy, damp soils that stay saturated, particularly over the winter months.
