Verbascum 'Southern Charm' is a versatile and elegant perennial, celebrated for its soft, pastel color palette and reliable performance in the perennial garden. The flowers emerge in an array of sophisticated hues - ranging from creamy white and pale lavender to a delicate, dusty rose - each featuring a prominent, contrasting dark purple center that adds depth and interest. It is slightly more compact than many other Verbascum species, producing graceful, airy spires that rise from a tidy basal rosette of grey-green, felted leaves. To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Because Verbascum is highly susceptible to crown rot in heavy or damp soils, plant it slightly high. Creating a small, well-draining mound about 1-2 inches above surrounding soil level, ensures that water sheds away from the base of the rosette. Full sun and open exposure are most important for maintaining sturdy, form.
