POCAHONTAS LILAC

Syringa x hyacinthiflora 'Pocahontas' is commonly referred to as Pocahontas Lilac. It is a fantastic Lilac that features a profusion of fragrant purple flowers that appear about two weeks earlier than other Common Lilacs.

Pocahontas Lilac thrives in full sun in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Prune, if needed, after spring blooms.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: plant in a full sun location with moist, well-draining soil, ensuring the site has good airflow to maintain the health of its deep purple blooms. This extremely hardy, early-season bloomer benefits from an application of balanced fertilizer in the early spring to promote lush growth. To ensure a massive flower display every year, avoid pruning in the late winter or early spring, as the plant sets its buds on the previous year's growth; any thinning or pruning to maintain its upright shape should be conducted immediately after the spring flowering has concluded.
