BLOOMERANG® SHOWMOUND™

The Syringa Bloomerang® Showmound™ features the first white-flowered variety in the popular Bloomerang® series. This dwarf deciduous shrub is celebrated for its incredibly tidy, mounded habit, staying much more compact than traditional varieties at just 2-3 feet tall and wide. In late spring, it becomes completely smothered in fragrant clusters of snowy white blossoms. True to the Bloomerang® name, it doesn't stop there; after a brief summer rest, it begins a second flowering cycle that persists from midsummer all the way until the first frost, ensuring your garden remains filled with that classic, sweet lilac scent for months on end.

To keep your Bloomerang® Showmound™ Lilac performing at its peak, it should be planted in full sun (at least 6 hours of direct light) to ensure the best bloom density and disease resistance. It prefers moist, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH; like most lilacs, it will struggle in "wet feet" or soggy conditions. Because it blooms on both old and new wood, the best time to prune is immediately after the first spring flowering - a light trim helps stimulate the fresh growth that carries the summer and fall flowers. Given its petite stature, it is the ideal for the front of garden borders, low-maintenance hedges, or decorative patio containers where its fragrance can be enjoyed up close.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: select a location that receives at least six hours of full sun daily and features well-draining soil, as this selection of Lilacs are particularly sensitive to "wet feet." Maintain consistent moisture during the first growing season to establish a deep root system, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer each spring to support healthy development. Crucially, you should avoid pruning in late winter or early spring, as this will remove the buds intended for the first bloom of the season. Instead, wait until the spring flowering has finished before lightly shearing the plant; this encourages the flush of fresh new growth required for the variety's signature reblooming period from mid-summer through the first frost.
