BLOOMERANG® DARK PURPLE LILAC
Syringa 'SMSJBP7' PP26549 Proven Winners® Color Choice® Bloomerang® Dark Purple is commonly referred to as Bloomerang® Dark Purple Lilac. It features large, fragrant purple flowers from spring through early summer and again when the cooler temperatures return in fall. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. It has a compact, dense habit that is deer and disease resistant.
Bloomerang® Dark Purple thrives in full sun in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate wet conditions. It blooms on previous season's growth so any pruning should be immediately after flowering. Note that any trimming after bloom delays rebloom by a few weeks compared to untrimmed Bloomerang® lilacs.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: select a location that receives at least six hours of full sun daily and features well-draining soil, as this selection of Lilacs are particularly sensitive to "wet feet." Maintain consistent moisture during the first growing season to establish a deep root system, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer each spring to support healthy development. Crucially, you should avoid pruning in late winter or early spring, as this will remove the buds intended for the first bloom of the season. Instead, wait until the spring flowering has finished before lightly shearing the plant; this encourages the flush of fresh new growth required for the variety's signature reblooming period from mid-summer through the first frost.
