Syringa x 'SMNSDTP' PP32969 is commonly referred to as Baby Kim® Lilac. This Proven Winners® ColorChoice® dwarf selection is exactly what you need for that small sunny space. It is the smallest lilac to date, but packs a colorful punch with glossy dark green foliage and fragrant purple blooms that do not fade to white. It is everything you love about lilacs, but in a more tidier, compact form.
Baby Kim™ Lilac is rarely bothered by deer and thrives in full sun in rich, fertile, well-drained soils. It does not tolerate acidic soils or soggy, wet conditions.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: plant in a location that receives full sun and features well-draining soil, as this dwarf variety requires good drainage to prevent root rot. While this cultivar is highly resistant to powdery mildew, providing adequate spacing for air circulation will further ensure healthy, dark green foliage throughout the season. Water regularly during the first year to establish a strong root system, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Because 'Baby Kim' is a compact grower that blooms on old wood, avoid pruning in late winter or early spring to preserve the flower buds; instead, perform any light shaping immediately after the spring bloom is complete.
