INCISA CRISPA CUTLEAF STEPHANANDRA

Stephanandra incisa 'Crispa' is commonly referred to as Cutleaf Stephanandra. It is a small, deciduous, fast-growing groundcover shrub with small, star-shaped white flowers in spring. Attractive foliage is dark green and maple-like, attached to slender, arching branches that grows in a unique zig-zag pattern and self-layers where it touches the ground. Leaves turn an attractive yellow and orange fall color.

Crispa Stephanandra thrives in partial shade in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is great as a groundcover or in mass plantings.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in fertile, well-draining, slightly acidic soil, selecting a site in full sun to partial shade for the best foliage color and density. While this low-growing, mounding shrub is adaptable, it performs best with consistent moisture, particularly during the first growing season, and benefits from protection against harsh, drying winds. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove winter-damaged tips or to rejuvenate the shrub by cutting back old growth, which helps maintain its graceful, arching habit.
