Zone: 4SILVER CARPET LAMBS EAR
Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet' is commonly referred to as Silver Carpet Lamb's Ear. It is one of the most popular silver-leaved perennials and is primarily grown for its soft, fuzzy, silver-grey foliage which rapidly spreads like a groundcover and thrives in less than ideal areas with poor soils. It does not flower, but instead uses its showy foliage to contrast well with the surrounding plant material. It rarely produces flower spikes and spreads by creeping, rooting stems. It is deer and rabbit resistant and stays attractive the entire season. It is evergreen in mild winter regions.
Silver Carpet Lamb's Ear is easy to care for and thrives in full sun to partial shade with average, sandy, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is an excellent groundcover and also perfect for edging, borders, naturalized areas, rock and woodland gardens.
