RAGIN CAJUN INDIAN PINK

Spigelia marilandica 'Ragin Cajun' is a high-performance, floriferous selection of our native Indian Pink that brings an intense, fiery energy to the garden. It is distinguished by its incredible flower production, often producing significantly more blooms than the species. It forms a rounded, bushy mound of clean, mid-green foliage that reaches a mature height of 18 - 24 inches with a similar spread. Throughout late spring and into mid-summer, 'Ragin Cajun' is topped with clusters of upright, tubular flowers that are a vibrant orange-red on the outside, opening to reveal a bright yellow, star-shaped throat.

While many associate Spigelia with woodland shade, 'Ragin Cajun' is a sun-loving powerhouse. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and actually prefers those brighter locations to fuel its massive flower display.

Maintenance is very straightforward - simply cut the stems back to the basal foliage after the first heavy flush of flowers to encourage potential reblooming later in the season. In early spring, clear away the previous year's growth to make way for the new stems. Its tidy, mounded habit and intense color make it a fantastic "mid-border" plant that bridges the gap between low growers and taller perennials.
