SORBIFOLIA SEM URAL FALSESPIREA

Sorbaria sorbifolia 'Sem' PP16336 is commonly referred to as Sem False Spirea or Sem Sorbaria. It is an outstanding dwarf Sorbaria featuring pinkish-red, fern-like spring foliage that turns chartreuse in full sun. In fall it turns an attractive copper color. Airy plums of creamy white flowers appear in July and August. This compact, deciduous shrub is highly ornamental during its entire growing season, and even in winter, its smooth bark adds great interest.

Sem Sorbaria thrives in full sun or partial shade. It enjoys rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils and should not be allowed to dry out. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution and may thrive in city environments.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in average, well-draining soil, selecting a location that receives full sun to partial shade for best foliage development and bloom performance. This species is known for its vigorous, suckering habit, so provide adequate space in your landscape design to accommodate its natural spread. Ensure consistent moisture during the first season of establishment, though it is quite adaptable to various conditions once settled. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead wood, shape the shrub, or thin out excessive suckers to maintain your desired density. Apply a layer of organic mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, taking care to keep the mulch away from the crown to prevent stem rot.
