Silene dioica 'Clifford Moor' is a striking and highly decorative perennial prized for its exceptionally bright, variegated foliage. It forms a low-growing, mounded tuft of narrow, lance-shaped leaves that are deep green with broad, creamy-yellow margins. Reaching a mature height of approximately 15 - 18 inches with a slightly wider spread, it provides a year-round "glow" in the garden, even when not in bloom. In late spring to early summer, slender stems rise above the variegated mound, carrying clusters of delicate, single pink flowers that create a soft, romantic contrast against the vivid foliage.
To keep Silene 'Clifford Moor' looking its best, it should be planted in a location that receives partial shade to full sun. While it can handle sunnier spots, providing some afternoon shade in regions with intense summer heat will help prevent the bright leaf margins from scorching. It thrives in average to moist, well-drained soil and, unlike some drought-tolerant perennials, it prefers consistent moisture to maintain its lush appearance.
