Zone: 4SUNSPARKLER® LIME ZINGER STONECROP
Sedum SunSparkler® 'Lime Zinger' is an incredibly hardy and high-contrast stonecrop groundcover that brings a brilliant, fresh look to the garden. It is prized for its succulent, lime-green foliage that is sharply edged with a thin, cherry-red margin. Growing to a tidy height of only 3 to 6 inches with a spread of 15-18 inches, it forms a dense, weed-suppressing mat that maintains its vibrant "zing" from early spring through the first hard frost. In late summer, 'Lime Zinger' is nearly hidden under a profusion of massive, soft-pink flower clusters. These nectar-rich blooms create a stunning pastel contrast against the bright green and red-edged leaves, acting as a powerful magnet for butterflies and bees. The thick, waxy foliage is exceptionally tough, showing excellent resistance to heat, drought, and common foliage diseases.
For the most vivid foliage color and the tightest mounded habit, plant 'Lime Zinger' in a location that receives full sun. It is a rugged and low-maintenance perennial that thrives in average to poor, well-drained soil; avoiding over-fertilization is key to keeping the mounded form tight and the colors sharp. In the landscape, it is an ideal choice for the front of a sunny border, as a bright filler in rock gardens, or as a colorful "spiller" in mixed containers. Maintenance is simple - just clear away any winter debris in early spring to allow the fresh, lime-green growth to emerge.
