LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE STONECROP
Sedum 'Little Miss Sunshine' (Phedimus (syn. Sedum)) is a standout groundcover known for its incredibly tidy, mounded habit and exceptionally glossy foliage. It features small, succulent leaves in a deep, dark green that maintain a polished sheen throughout the entire growing season. Reaching a height of only 6 to 9 inches with a spread of up to 18 to 24 inches, it creates a dense, weed-suppressing mat. In early to mid-summer, the plant is nearly covered in a profusion of tiny, star-shaped yellow flowers that create a vibrant, sunny display against the dark backdrop of the leaves.
For the best garden performance, plant 'Little Miss Sunshine' in a location that receives full sun to partial shade, though the most prolific blooming and tightest form occur in brighter light. It is a rugged and drought-tolerant perennial that thrives in average to poor, well-drained soil; avoiding overly wet areas is essential to ensure its long-term health.
In the landscape, it is an ideal choice for the front of a sunny border, as a colorful filler in rock gardens, or as a low-maintenance edge along walkways and stone walls. Maintenance is minimal-simply clear away any winter debris in early spring to allow the fresh, glossy green growth to emerge.
