SUNSPARKLER®FIRECRACKER STONECROP
Sedum 'Firecracker' is a standout sedum from the SunSparkler® series, prized for its intense color and vigorous, mounding habit. This groundcover stonecrop features small, succulent leaves in a brilliant shade of burgundy-red that remains vibrant from early spring through the heat of summer. Growing only about 6-9 inches tall with a spread of up to 15-18 inches, it forms a dense, weed-suppressing mat of foliage. In late summer, the plant is topped with large, soft-pink flower clusters that provide a stunning contrast against the dark, smoky-red leaves and serve as a magnet for pollinators.
For the most intense foliage color and strongest growth, plant Sedum 'Firecracker' in a location that receives full sun. It is an exceptionally hardy and drought-tolerant perennial that thrives in average to poor, well-drained soil; avoiding over-watering and highly fertile soil is key to maintaining its tight, compact form.
In the landscape, it is an ideal choice for the front of a sunny border, as a vibrant filler in rock gardens, or as a colorful "spiller" in mixed autumn containers. Maintenance is very simple-just clear away any winter debris in early spring to make room for the new, burgundy growth to emerge.
