Zone: 5PROPELLER JAPANESE UMBRELLA PINE
The Sciadopitys verticillata 'Propeller' is commonly referred to as the Propeller Umbrella Pine. This compact evergreen tree has unique twisting and arching, thin, glossy green needles that remind one of a plane propeller. It maintains its green color throughout the year. Mature cones are light brown and elongated.
The slow-growing Umbrella Pine enjoys moist, rich, acidic, well-drained soils in full to partial sun. Shelter from harsh winter winds would be beneficial.
