Zone: 5JOE KOZEY JAPANESE UMBRELLA PINE
The Sciadopitys verticillata 'Joe Kozey' is commonly referred to as Joe Kozey Japanese Umbrella Pine. It is a slow-growing, narrowly upright pine that can withstand snow loads with its sturdy branches held tight to its trunk. It becomes very spire-like as it matures, creating a beautiful focal point in the landscape. It has dark green needles that remain dark green throughout winter.
Joe Kozey Japanese Umbrella Pine enjoys full sun in rich, acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate standing water. Shelter from harsh winter winds would be beneficial.
