VIVID VIOLET PINCUSHION FLOWER

Scabiosa 'Vivid Violet' is a high-performance, mid-sized perennial prized for its exceptionally intense flower color and robust growth habit. It produces large, 2-inch wide pincushion flowers in a rich, velvety shade of deep violet-purple. Reaching a mature height of 12 - 15 inches with a similar spread, it forms a tidy, mounded tuft of deeply lobed, bright green foliage. Its striking blooms are held on sturdy, wiry stems and provide a continuous display of vivid color from late spring all the way through the first frost, serving as a high-impact nectar source for butterflies and bees.

To ensure Scabiosa 'Vivid Violet' remains a standout performer, it should be planted in a location that receives full sun and has excellent soil drainage. Like many pincushion flowers, it is particularly sensitive to "wet feet" during the winter months, so well-drained soil is essential for its long-term health. To maximize flower production and maintain a clean appearance, regular deadheading of spent blossoms is highly recommended to encourage it to produce new violet buds all season long. In early spring, simply remove any old foliage to make room for fresh new growth.
