PINK TANNA BURNET
Sanguisorba officinalis 'Pink Tanna' is a whimsical and airy perennial prized for its unique, bobbing flower spikes and refined foliage. It forms a dense mound of attractive, blue-green pinnate leaves with serrated edges, providing a lush textural base for the garden. In mid to late summer, slender, branching stems rise to a mature height of 24 - 30 inches, topped with charming, cylindrical pink flower spikes that resemble soft bottlebrushes. These pendulous blooms sway gracefully in the breeze, adding a sense of movement and a soft, romantic feel to the landscape while attracting a variety of butterflies and pollinators.
To ensure 'Pink Tanna' performs at its peak, it should be planted in a location that receives full sun to partial shade. It is particularly fond of moisture and thrives in rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil; it is an excellent choice for bog gardens, pond edges, or heavier clay soils where other perennials might struggle. Maintenance is straightforward - simply deadhead spent flower spikes to maintain a tidy appearance and cut the foliage back to the ground in late autumn or early spring to make way for fresh, vibrant new growth.
