BLUE BY YOU MEADOW SAGE
Salvia nemorosa 'Blue By You' is a Proven Winners® high-performance selection celebrated for its exceptionally early and prolific bloom cycle. It produces a dense thicket of long, slender spikes covered in rich violet-blue flowers that emerge from dark purple calyxes, creating a saturated, two-toned appearance. Its aromatic, medium-green foliage forms a tight, mounded clump that serves as a sturdy base for the heavy floral display. As one of the first meadow sages to color up in late spring, it provides a critical early nectar source for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, often blooming up to two weeks earlier than other popular varieties.
Salvia 'Blue By You' enjoys a sunny location with well-draining soil and prefers ground that doesn't remain soggy. Because it maintains a compact and uniform height of 18 to 24 inches, it is perfectly suited for the front or middle of a perennial border, along garden paths, or as a vibrant filler in mixed patio containers. Once the first massive flush of flowers begins to fade, a quick shearing of the spent spikes will encourage the plant to produce multiple rounds of rebloom throughout the summer and into early fall. It is remarkably heat-tolerant and stays naturally resistant to deer and rabbits, making it a reliable, low-maintenance choice for consistent blue tones in the landscape.
