TREASURE TROVE BLACKEYED SUSAN

Rudbeckia hirta 'Treasure Trove' is a Proven Winners® selection and is a beautiful cultivar that stands out for its unique, multi-tonal floral display. Part of a newer generation of breeding, it is celebrated for its large, semi-double to double blooms that showcase a sophisticated blend of warm copper, burnished orange, and golden-yellow. Each flower is centered with a prominent dark chocolate cone, and as the blooms mature, the colors often deepen and shift, providing a "sunset" effect in the garden. Reaching a mature height of 30 to 36 inches, it maintains a sturdy and upright branching habit, ensuring that the heavy, ruffled flowers are held high above the deep green foliage without sagging.

For the most vibrant color development and strongest stems, 'Treasure Trove' should be planted in full sun. It thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and, while it possesses the heat tolerance characteristic of the species, it performs best with regular watering during the heat of the summer. 'Treasure Trove' is an excellent candidate for the middle of a perennial border or as a centerpiece in high-impact autumn-themed containers. Although it is often treated as a vigorous annual or short-lived perennial, it provides a massive return on investment with its long flowering window from mid-summer until the first hard frost.
